On August 10th, twenty-three local leaders and members of the Tampa Bay business community found more than just business opportunities; they found a platform to get to know their neighbors during the monthly business reception in the Scientology Information Center in Downtown Clearwater. Guests included health consultants, non-profit mentors, authors, real estate agents, nursing assistants, golf enthusiasts, chiropractors, chefs and others from transport services and home beautifying services. Though they did not know each other before the reception, mutual goals helped to increase rapport as guests mingled with one another.
“I enjoy coming to these events as I learn about services and organizations in the community I might not know about otherwise. Even when I might not personally need their services, I often refer my friends and acquaintances to them,” said Georgette, an image consultant. “The Information Center is becoming known for its networking events within the community and its popularity is starting to increase just from word of mouth.”
“This is the second time I’ve attended these events,” stated Lori, a medical professional. “The first time I came I gained information from a non-profit organization about how to handle my credit score which I thought was absolutely ruined. That was a nice surprise which gave me some hope. I will definitely keep coming.”
These monthly business receptions are open to all members of the business community and are held every 2nd Wednesday of the month from 6-8p.m. Starting in September, the receptions will include talks on various aspects of business education from local business leaders and members of the Chamber of Commerce. Light refreshments are offered and there is no cost to attend.

The Scientology religion was founded by humanitarian and philosopher, L. Ron Hubbard. The first Church of Scientology was formed in the United States in 1954 and has expanded to more than 11,000 churches, missions and affiliated groups in 167 nations. The Church of Scientology regularly engages in humanitarian programs and community events. Clearwater is the home of the spiritual headquarters for the Church of Scientology. Its Information Center is open to all and provides answers to questions about Scientology through its audio visual displays, exhibits and publications. The Church of Scientology has owned the Clearwater Bank Building since 1976, restoring it and transforming its lobby into an Information Center in July 2015.
